May has been full of change and growth for the North Canterbury Woodcraft Club. After 15 years of dedicated service, Noel Graham has stepped down as President — though he continues to guide Wednesday club days and lead the nationally accredited woodturning course with fellow long-timer Merv Laws.
The Club welcomed Howard Pettigrew as the new President, with Paul Wanty staying on as Secretary and Viv Milne stepping into the Treasurer role.
Membership is thriving, with newcomers from Pegasus to North Loburn joining in. Whether you're brand new — like Jan, who proudly turned a garden dibbler on her first day — or a returning turner like Mike, there’s something for everyone. Even local homeschoolers like Leonard are finding a perfect fit, learning advanced techniques while fulfilling curriculum goals. The Club provides all the tools, lathes, and timber needed for members, making it easy and affordable to dive into this rewarding craft.
