The Rangiora Community Patrol plays a big role in keeping local streets safe and supporting the work of NZ Police. Volunteers head out in pairs in a marked patrol vehicle, acting as extra eyes and ears around town. From checking schools and business areas at night to keeping an eye on busy public spaces during the day, their presence helps deter crime and provide reassurance to residents.

Patrollers assist with a wide range of situations, including helping with lost pets, loose livestock, stranded motorists, and reporting unsecured homes or businesses. They also monitor town cameras and pass information to Police when needed. Every patrol makes a difference.

The patrol runs entirely on donated time and community support. More volunteers mean more patrols and greater coverage across the district. Residents who join are asked to complete one patrol a month and attend a monthly meeting, with full training, uniform, and support provided.

The group encourages anyone who cares about community safety to get involved. Joining the patrol is a practical way to look out for neighbours and play an active part in keeping the region safe.
