The North Canterbury Model Railway Club is a welcoming group for anyone interested in model trains and layout building. Members meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7–9pm, and Saturday mornings from 10am to midday, currently based at 13 Blake Street in Rangiora.

The club offers a hands-on hobby with a wide range of skills to explore, including electronics, soldering, scenery building, track laying, computer programming, and model construction. Tuesday nights are dedicated to running trains on the club’s layouts, including a popular Thomas the Tank Engine setup for younger enthusiasts. Members can bring their own locomotives or use the club’s collection.

The club is now facing an urgent challenge. Their current premises are due for demolition within the next 6–12 months, and they are actively seeking a new space of around 180 square metres to house their layouts. Affordable options are essential, and the club is reaching out to the community in the hope that someone may have suitable space available.

If you can help or would like to learn more, the club would love to hear from you.
