A new way to get active has arrived in Rangiora with the installation of a free 9-hole disc golf course beside MainPower Stadium. Approved by the Rangiora-Ashley Community Board in March, the project has now been completed thanks to the efforts of the North Canterbury Sport and Recreation Trust, which led the fundraising and installation.
The course winds through the green spaces around MainPower Stadium, the hockey turf, and the cricket oval. The first four holes feature longer open fairways before moving into shorter, more technical holes among the trees. At around 1.2km long on flat terrain, it's suitable for beginners and experienced players alike.
The course is free and open to everyone. Discs can be hired from MainPower Stadium during staffed hours, making it easy for anyone to give the sport a try.
